Mrs. Cronics Chocolate Fudge Recipe

Chocolate Fudge, Old Times Christmas Treats

Description: Marie Cornic’s Chocolate Fudge is a classic, rich treat that’s perfect for satisfying any sweet tooth. This simple, no-fuss recipe combines sugar, cocoa, and milk to create a smooth and decadent fudge. It’s an ideal recipe for homemade gifts, holiday treats, or as a delightful snack for chocolate lovers.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 5-10 minutes

Inactive Time: 30 minutes (for cooling)

Servings: Approximately 20 pieces

Ingredients:

• 2 cups sugar

• ¼ cup white Karo syrup

• 3 tablespoons cocoa

• A dash of salt

• ½ cup milk

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

• ½ cup Crisco

Instructions:

1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, white Karo syrup, cocoa, salt, milk, and Crisco.

2. Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly, until all the ingredients are melted and well blended.

3. Once everything is melted, increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil. Boil for 1 minute, then remove the saucepan from the heat.

4. Allow the fudge mixture to cool without stirring. Wait until it is cool to the touch.

5. Once cool, add the vanilla extract and stir the fudge until it thickens.

6. Drop spoonfuls of the fudge onto waxed paper.

7. Allow the fudge to cool completely and set before serving.

Notes to Make it Better:

• For a creamier texture, you can substitute half of the Crisco with butter.

• If you like nuts in your fudge, stir in a half cup of chopped walnuts or pecans before dropping the fudge onto the waxed paper.

• Be careful not to overboil the mixture, as this can result in dry or crumbly fudge.
