Delightful Heart Shaped Chocolate Brownies with Love Sprinkles

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of sifted flour

  • 1/2 cup of sugar

  • 1/2 cup of cocoa powder

  • 1 cup of hot water

  • 2 1/2 cups buttermilk (or onaka filmjolk)

  • 1 tsp of vanilla

  • 2 large whisked eggs (For Egg substitutions: Click here )

  • 1 tbsp of baking powder

  • 1 tsp of salt

  • Valentine’s Day sprinkles

Decadent Chocolate Glaze:

  • 2 bars of chocolate

  • 2 tbsps of crisco

Step by Step Guide:

  1. In a small bowl, mix together sugar, cocoa powder, and hot water. Let it bloom for 10 minutes for a deeper chocolate taste.

  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F.

  3. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and baking powder.

  4. Add eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk to the bowl and mix well.

  5. Pour in the bloomed cocoa powder and blend until combined.

  6. Pour the mixture into a 9x13 greased baking pan. Bake for 25-35 minutes, depending on your oven.

  7. Allow to cool completely, remove from the pan, and place on a wire rack to dry for 1 hour.

  8. Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out heart shapes from the cooled brownies.

  9. Melt the chocolate and crisco together and dip each heart in the mixture.

  10. Place on a wire rack to harden and sprinkle with Valentine's Day sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet.

  11. Once the chocolate has hardened, enjoy!

Chocolate Glaze
  • 2 bars of chocolate
  • 2 tbsps of crisco

Instructions

  1. On a small bowl add the sugar, cocoa powder and hot water and mix well. Allow it to bloom for 10 minutes. This step is crucial to making your chocolate brownies moist and a deeper chocolate taste.
  2. Prep what your own to 375F.
  3. In a large bowl soft your flour along with the salt and baking powder.
  4. Add your eggs, vanilla and buttermilk and mix well.
  5. Add in your bloomed cocoa powder and mix until blended well.
  6. Add to a 9x13 greased casserole or baking pan. Bake for 25-35 minute’s depending on your oven.
  7. Once done allow to cool completely before removing from the pan.
  8. Place it on a wire rack and let dry just a bit for 1 hour.
  9. Once done, cut out heart shaped hearts with your heart cookie cutter.
  10. Once all hearts are cut out, melt your chocolate and crisco together.
  11. Dip each heart in the chocolate front and backwards.
  12. Place on a wire rack allow the chocolate to harden again.
  13. You can leave them plain or sprinkle Valentine’s Day sprinkles on them while they are still wet.
  14. Once dried, serve and enjoy!
