Crockpot Black-eyed Peas with Smoked Turkey Leg

Ingredients:

• 1 pound black-eyed peas, soaked overnight

• 1 smoked turkey leg

• 1 large onion, diced

• 6 cups water

• 2 chicken bouillon cubes

Instructions:

1. Prepare Ingredients: Drain and rinse the soaked black-eyed peas.

2. Cook the Turkey Leg: Place the smoked turkey leg in the crockpot along with the diced onion.

3. Add Peas and Seasonings: Add black-eyed peas, water, and chicken bouillon cubes to the crockpot.

4. Cook on Low: Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, or until the peas are tender.

5. Shred Turkey: Remove the turkey leg from the pot, shred the meat, and return it to the pot.

6. Season to Taste: Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

7. Serve: Serve warm with your favorite sides such as cornbread or rice.

Notes to Make It Better:

• For extra flavor, add some minced garlic or a bay leaf during the cooking process.
