Granny Sue’s Meatloaf Recipe

Ground beef, onion, bread, egg, ketchup, evaporated milk, and seasonings go into making Granny Sue's Meatloaf, a simple yet wonderful meal. Everything gets thrown into a casserole dish, coated with ketchup, and cooked until the vegetables are tender. Meatloaf is cut into squares and served with a variety of vegetables, starches, and sauces. The meatloaf is supposed to taste better if you burn the edges, according to the recipe. In sum, it is a tried-and-true recipe that is both simple to prepare and satisfying to serve at a family meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 Lb of hamburger meat
  • 1 large onion, peeled & diced
  • 2-3 slices of old bread, tore up into tiny pieces
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup ketchup + 1/4 cup for topping
  • 1/4-1/2 can of evaporated milk
  • salt & black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375F.
  2. In your casserole dish add all of your ingredients and mix together well in the casserole dish.
  3. Press the meatloaf flat into the casserole dish.
  4. Top with the remaining ketchup.
  5. Bake for 45-60 minutes.
  6. I like mine to cook until there is a little bit of burnt edges around the meatloaf because I love that taste. But, if you don’t keep an eye on it after about 45 minutes.
  7. Once done allow to cool and then slice across until you make square servings.
  8. Serve with coleslaw, mashed potatoes, green beans and gravy!
  9. Enjoy!
