Shrimp Alfredo Recipe

"Shrimp Alfredo: A Classic Dish with a Delicious Twist"

Ingredients:

  • 1 Lb of jumbo raw shrimp, cleaned with no shell

  • 1 package of linguine pasta

  • 2 tbsps of butter

  • 2 tbsps of flour

  • 6 cloves of garlic, finely minced

  • 3 cups parmesan, grated

  • 3 cups of milk

  • 1 tsp dried chili flakes

  • 1 tsp white pepper

  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

  • 1 bunch of fresh parsley, chopped

  • fresh ground black pepper

  • salt to taste

"Preparing the Perfect Shrimp"

When it comes to making shrimp alfredo, the quality of the shrimp is key. For this recipe, we suggest using jumbo raw shrimp that have been cleaned and deveined. This ensures that the shrimp will be tender and juicy when cooked. The size of the shrimp also adds an extra level of decadence to the dish. When preparing the shrimp, make sure to soak them in cold water for a few minutes before cooking to remove any impurities.

"Creating a Rich and Creamy Sauce"

The sauce for this dish is made with a blend of butter, flour, garlic, parmesan, milk, and spices, creating a rich and flavorful base. The key to making the sauce is to cook the flour for a few minutes to ensure that the raw flour taste has been cooked out. This step is important as it will ensure that the sauce is smooth and creamy. The addition of the parmesan cheese at the end gives the sauce a nutty, cheesy flavor that perfectly complements the shrimp. For a healthier version of this dish, you can opt to use low-fat milk or a dairy-free alternative.

"The Perfect Pasta Pairing"

Linguine pasta is the perfect choice for this dish as its long, thin shape allows it to hold onto the sauce perfectly. Cooking the pasta al dente ensures that it holds up to the sauce without becoming mushy. Al dente pasta also has a slightly firmer texture, which goes well with the creamy sauce and tender shrimp. For a gluten-free alternative, you can use brown rice pasta or quinoa pasta.

"Making it a Balanced Meal"

This dish can be paired with a simple side salad or some toasted bread to make a well-rounded meal. The shrimp provides a good source of protein, while the pasta and cheese add some carbohydrates. To make it a bit healthier, you can opt to use whole wheat pasta and reduce the amount of butter used in the sauce. A side salad with greens like arugula, spinach or mixed greens would make a perfect complement to this dish. The greens add a freshness and lightness to the dish, and it’s a great way to add some vegetables to your meal.

"Elevating the Dish with Fresh Herbs and Spices"

The addition of fresh parsley, nutmeg, and chili flakes adds an extra layer of flavor to the dish. The parsley adds a fresh, herby taste, while the nutmeg and chili flakes add a subtle warmth. The use of black pepper also adds a nice kick to the dish. Nutmeg has a warm and slightly sweet flavor that gives a depth of flavor to the sauce. While chili flakes add a little heat to the dish, giving it a nice balance of flavors.

"Presentation is Everything"

Garnish the dish with extra fresh parsley, grated parmesan cheese and fresh cracked black pepper before serving. The added touch of freshly grated parmesan and parsley on top makes the dish look as delicious as it tastes. Presentation is important as it can make a dish more appealing and appetizing. The green parsley and white parmesan cheese make for a beautiful contrast of colors, and the fresh cracked black pepper adds a nice texture to the dish.

"An Easy and Delicious Meal"

This recipe is not only delicious but also easy to make. It can be prepared in under an hour and it's perfect for a date night at home or a dinner party with friends. The rich and creamy sauce, perfectly cooked shrimp, and al dente pasta make for a dish that is sure to impress. Ingredients

  • 1 Lb of jumbo raw shrimp, cleaned with no shell
  • 1 package of linguine pasta
  • 2 tbsps of butter
  • 2 tbsps of flour
  • 6 cloves of garlic, finely minced
  • 3 cups parmesan, grated
  • 3 cups of milk
  • 1 tsp dried chili flakes
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 bunch of fresh parsley, chopped
  • fresh ground black pepper
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Clean your shrimp and soak in cold water until ready to cook.
  2. Prepare your parmesan, garlic and parsley.
  3. Boil your pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  4. In the skillet add your butter and allow to melt.
  5. Add your shrimp and season with a little salt and white pepper. Cook until they turn pink on a low heat. You don’t want to overlook your shrimp. This will make them rubbery. If they have curled together, you’ve overlooked them. So cook them right when they are a nice vibrant pink color.
  6. When done set to the side on a plate.
  7. Add your garlic and seasonings. Cook the garlic until fragrant.
  8. Once pasta is done reserve 1 cup of pasta water and drain the rest and set to the side.
  9. Add your flour to your garlic, butter and seasonings. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on low to ensure the flour taste has been cooked out.
  10. Now add your pasta water and milk.
  11. Turn up the heat a little. Let it be in-between low and medium. Stirring constantly until thickened.
  12. Once’s thickened, cut the heat and add the parmesan cheese and stir until melted.
  13. Add the pasta and use tongs to really coat the pasta in the pan.
  14. Add your fresh parsley and shrimp. Toss again.
  15. Garnish with extra fresh parsley, grated parmesan cheese and fresh cracked black pepper.
  16. Serve with some toasted bread and a side salad! Enjoy
